Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Observation Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. The role focuses on outpatient/observation patients admitted from the Emergency Department for short stays of 24 hours or less, including diagnoses like chest pain, asthma, syncope, and heart failure.

The RN will provide direct patient care, collaborate with the healthcare team, and maintain current nursing competencies.

Qualifications

• Board of Registration in Nursing Examination completed and MA license currently active.
• Current American Heart Association CPR certification.
• ADN required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-appropriate needs of patients.
• Responsible for plan of care and decisions across assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Collaborate with other healthcare team members to deliver care.
• Maintain current knowledge and skills per nursing specialty organization and regulatory standards.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Observation Unit at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Observation Unit patient population consists of outpatient/observation patients admitted from the Emergency Department, for a short stay for 24 hours or less. We care for a variety of diagnoses including chest pain, asthma, syncope, anemia, back pain, dvt, heart failure and many others.

The Registered Nurse role offers the opportunity for meaningfulimpact while supporting patients, serving the community and collaborating with a specialized team.

The Registered Nurse Will:

• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide expected standards of care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational spiritual, safety, and age-appropriate considerations of patients.
• Assumes responsibility for the patient's plan of care and is held accountable for decisions specific to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
• Provides care directly to patients and in collaboration with other healthcare team members.
• Maintains a current level of knowledge and skill with technical procedures as defined by the nursing specialty organization, complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies, and is currently licensed in the state of Massachusetts as a registered nurse.

Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
