Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Inpatient Medical Surgical Float Pool at the MetroHealth Main Campus- Glick location. The role requires licensure in Ohio, ACLS/BLS, and 1+ year of inpatient RN experience.

Expect bi-weekly 72 hours with rotating nights and weekends to support diverse units. The RN will perform IV placement, blood draws, catheter care, and wound management while collaborating with LPNs, PCNAs, and providers.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; may be in process for accreditation.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Current ACLS/BLS for healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• 1 year of inpatient RN experience; PRN requires 1 year of RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Float among units: Oncology, Telemetry, Post‑Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, General Medicine.
• Provide patient care in inpatient medical‑surgical settings.
• Perform IV starts, blood draws, and catheter care; manage drains and wound care.

Shift: primary 7p-7a, secondary 7a-7p; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Variety of complex medical disorders

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• IV placement, blood draws, foley catheter insertion/removal
• Tracheostomy care, NG placement, PEG tube, various drains, wound care
• Time management, critical thinking, and delegating

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT/OT, WOCN

Units RN will float:

• Oncology, Telemetry, Post‑Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, General Medicine

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire
• 1 year of inpatient RN experience
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
