Job summary

Texas Health Frisco is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the NICU to provide patient-centered care using the Nursing Process. The position is full-time (30 hours) with day shifts, based at the Frisco campus.

Requirements include nursing diploma or associate degree (BSN preferred), 1 year NICU experience or RN residency, and necessary certifications (BCLS, NRP, NRPA, CPI within specified windows).

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Nursing or Associate degree from an accredited program; BSN preferred.
  • One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency.
  • Two years NICU experience strongly preferred.
  • BCLS certification required prior to independent care and maintained quarterly.
  • NRP within 90 days and NRPA within 90 days.
  • CPI training within 90 days and maintained annually.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients using the Nursing Process.
  • Assesses the patient and plans care.
  • Intervenes as appropriate and evaluates outcomes.
  • Incorporates age-specific safety and infection control into care.
  • Initiates information sharing with patients and families.
  • Maintains continuity of care across shifts and during transfers.

Work hours: Full Time, 30 Hours; 7:00am – 7:00pm

Here’s What You Need
  • Diploma in Nursing required or
  • Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required or
  • BSN preferred
  • One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
  • Two years of NICU experience strongly preferred
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent care and maintained quarterly required and
  • NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required and
  • NRPA – Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required and
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days required and maintained annually
What You Will Do

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
