Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse RN for the Coronary Care Unit (CCU). This full-time night shift role (7 p.m.–7 a.m.) requires providing high-quality patient care to adults with cardiac conditions. Responsibilities include monitoring patients, collaborating with healthcare teams, and supervising other nursing personnel. Ideal candidates will hold a current RN license and a BSN, with a preference for prior acute-care experience. A structured residency program is available for new graduates.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid state RN license.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire.
  • Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic arrhythmia interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous acute-care hospital experience preferred.
  • Ventilator management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care to adults in the CCU.
  • Monitor cardiac status and implement interventions.
  • Communicate promptly with physicians and healthcare teams.
  • Educate patients and families on cardiac disease processes.
  • Document all care and maintain patient privacy.

Job description

Registered Nurse RN - Coronary Care Unit (CCU)

Location: Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME
Full‑time | Night shift | 7 p.m.–7 a.m. | 12‑hour shifts

The CCU Registered Nurse provides direct, high‑quality patient care to adults with cardiac conditions. Utilizes the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to monitor cardiac status, respond to changes, and implement evidence‑based interventions. Collaborates with physicians and the healthcare team, directs patient and family education, supervises other nursing personnel, and ensures CCU standards of care, patient safety, and confidentiality are maintained.

We welcome new graduate RNs and offer a structured residency program, hands‑on training, and preceptor support to build confidence and clinical skills.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care to adults in the CCU, monitoring cardiac status and implementing interventions.
  • Apply the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Monitor and respond to cardiac monitoring, vital signs, and changes in patient condition.
  • Communicate promptly with physicians and healthcare teams regarding clinical changes, diagnostic results, and symptomatology.
  • Educate patients and families on cardiac disease processes, treatments, and care plans.
  • Supervise and collaborate with other nursing personnel, maintaining CCU standards of care.
  • Document all care, interventions, and patient observations accurately while maintaining patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and rapid changes in patient condition.
Qualifications
  • Current and valid state RN license.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain thereafter.
  • Current ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain thereafter.
  • Basic arrhythmia interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous acute‑care hospital experience preferred.
