Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Neuroscience Center on 6 West at MetroHealth Main Campus—Glick. The role focuses on detailed neurological assessments, telemetry, and critical care management for adult patients with acute neuro conditions.

You will work in rotating shifts within a high-acuity unit and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Requirements include Ohio RN licensure and BLS; BSN and Magnet certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in Ohio.
• BLS certification or will obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed neurological assessments and monitor patient status.
• Administer medications and titrate as prescribed.
• Manage neurological drains, ventilators, and critical care devices.
• Continuous telemetry monitoring and rapid response to changes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 7a-7p/7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population

• Adult
• Ischemic/Hemorrhagic Strokes
• Status Epilepticus
• Encephalitis
• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
• Intracranial Hemorrhage
• Stroke
• Minor Neurological Disorders

Primary skills utilized/learned

• Detailed Neurological assessments
• ICP Monitoring
• Medication titration
• Managing surgical drains, mechanical ventilators, body temperature, & CRRT
• Neurological patient care; NIHSS Certification for Stroke care
• Telemetry monitoring
• Time management, critical thinking, delegating
• Seizure disorder monitoring/ care

Personnel RN will work with

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Respiratory Therapy, Social Work, Speech Therapy, PT, OT, Dietary

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
