Job summary

Penn State Health - St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, PA is seeking a nutrition professional to provide services, assess nutritional status, plan care, counsel patients, and educate groups to support health maintenance.

You will work with physicians and the department director to develop appropriate nutrition plans and contribute to staff development; education includes diet regimens and food selections.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics required; Master’s degree required for RDs who registered after 2024.
  • Internship completion required for dietetic registration.
  • Licensure by the Commission on Dietetic Registration/Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required; state licensure as LDN required.
  • Membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required; RD eligibility considered with credentialing within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Education

SUMMARY OF POSITION

This job is responsible for providing professional nutrition services (nutritional status and needs assessment, planning, counseling, and education) for individuals and groups for purposes of health maintenance. Responsible for providing nutritional education to the medical and general community via forums, screenings, and publication. Key contacts include: physicians to identify appropriate patient nutrition plans; Department director to participate in staff development; and patients and families to educate and counsel on nutrition principles, diet regimens, and food selections and preparations based on diagnosis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S)
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in nutrition and dietetics required or Master's degree required for Registered Dietitians who obtained registration after January 1st, 2024
  • Completion of internship for dietetic registration required
  • Licensure by the Commission on Dietetic Registration/Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required
  • Licensure by the State as a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) is required
  • Membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is required
  • RD Eligibility considered with successful credentialing completed within 90 days of hire.
