Trinity Health's St. Mary Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the MG1 Step Down Unit on the Day Shift. The role involves direct and indirect patient care, with emphasis on education, assessment, documentation, and teamwork.

The unit handles tele-monitored trauma, bariatric, stroke and critical care cases with a 3:1-4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. BSN is required with an active PA RN license and BLS, plus at least one year bedside experience.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
• PA RN License in good standing.
• AHA BLS certification.
• 1 year of bedside nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess learning needs and barriers to education, incorporating patient education into daily care.
• Document admission reassessments, plans, interventions and medication use with outcomes.
• Utilize the information management system to enhance communication and document patient condition changes.
• Communicate patient transfers and pertinent information during rounds and handoffs.
• Identify patient needs and integrate abuse recognition and referrals as needed.
• Include pain management and supportive care in the plan of care.
• Adhere to infection control standards and maintain a safe, clean environment.

Employment Type: Full time Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift Description: Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Unit: MG1 Step Down Unit Employment Type: Full Time Shift : Day Shift (7am-7:30pm), weekends Location: St. Mary Medical Center

Position Purpose

The primary objective of this position is to provide quality of care. Responsible for the direct and/or indirect care of patients assigned utilizing professional nursing skills and knowledge.

Unit Overview

Tele monitored patients - trauma, bariatric, stroke, critical care patients. Unit operates a 3:1-4:1 nurse to patient ratio. Unite has private room and approximately 26 beds.

As a Registered Nurse, you will

• Assesses learning needs, readiness to learn and identify actual or potential barriers to learning and thereby incorporating the patient's education into daily activities based on age, cultural and spiritual values.
• Documents admission assessment / reassessment, plan, interventions and medication use and monitors its effects and outcomes according to policy.
• Utilizes the information management system to enhance communication and documents change in-patients condition to all appropriate individuals. Prioritizes work assignment based on changing situations.
• Communicates transfer of patient responsibility and pertinent information at the bedside and during Interprofessional Rounds
• Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care and knowledgeable in abuse recognition and referral
• Includes pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care.
• Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care and by promotes and maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• BSN required, from an accredited school of nursing.
• PA RN License
• AHA BLS
• 1 year of bedside experience required.
