Registered Nurse/Medical Surgical - Neuro

This position is for a Neuro Medical Surgical Nurse at Forsyth Medical Center. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience, including at least 1 year in MedSurg. Travelers must have at least 1 year of travel experience, preferably 2 years. Local candidates are accepted, with rate differences applied.

Required Skills / Certifications / Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience, with 1 year in MedSurg
• Unit prefers travelers with at least 1 year of travel experience (preferably 2 years)
• Skills: IV starts, telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, neuro MedSurg experience
• Certifications: BCLS, NIHSS, ACLS (preferred)

Preferred Skills / Certifications:

• ACLS

Job Details:

• Ratios: 1:5-6
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 36 hours/week, Night shifts (12-hour nights, 18:45 - 07:15)
• RTO: Max 7 days, with weekend RTO adding to contract end if needed
• Travelers required to work every other weekend
• Floating to other MedSurg/Tele units, including COVID units, may be required

Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, Neurosurgery, Epilepsy, Traumatic and non-traumatic hematomas, among others.

Special Procedures/Unit Details: 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), considered Intermediate level, nurse-to-patient ratio 4:1. Census: 42 daily, 43 beds/rooms.

Systems Used: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR

Orientation: 36 hours, Scrubs: Navy

Additional Notes: Must pass EKG testing before start. Block scheduling not guaranteed. Must have 1 year of MedSurg experience. Location: Forsyth Medical Center. Shift: Night 3x12 hours (18:45 - 07:15). Overtime and holiday pay apply as specified.
