Job summary

Wilcox Medical Center, part of Hawai‘i Pacific Health, seeks a Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical unit on Kaua‘i. This full-time, rotating-12-hour shift role supports high-acuity care across 24-hour operations, with a 0.9 FTE commitment and a Hawai‘i RN license.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong patient care, communication, and teamwork in a fast-paced setting, with BLS required and a preference for a bachelor’s degree and 1 year Med/Surg experience. EOE/AA/Disabled/Vets.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holds Hawai‘i Registered Nurse license.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS CPR certification.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and 1 yearMed/Surg experience.

Job description

Founded in 1938, Wilcox Medical Center is a not-for-profit medical center dedicated to providing the Kaua‘i community with accessible quality health care. The largest medical center on Kaua‘i, it is a state-of-the-art acute care facility with a full suite of services offering 30 specialties and programs, including cardiology, emergency, family practice, gastroenterology, health management, internal medicine, neurology, OB-GYN, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and urology. Its 18-bed emergency department serves as the island’s Primary Stroke Center. The medical center also has four birthing suites, seven intensive care beds and 20 same-day surgery beds. Wilcox is the first American College of Surgeons-verified Level III Trauma Center in the state of Hawai‘i. Wilcox is part of Hawai‘i Pacific Health, one of the state’s leading health care systems and a not-for-profit health care organization with medical centers, clinics, physicians and other caregivers working together to create a healthier Hawai‘i.

The Medical Surgical department provides quality and safe care to patients admitted for acute nursing interventions of 24 hours or more within surgical/medical and oncology services. The highly trained and professional staff treats people recovering from serious illness, orthopedic problems and major surgery. Medication and treatments are provided in a warm and caring environment that facilitates patient recovery.

As a Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical unit, you will have the opportunity to support physician staff within this high-intensity team, where you will provide quality nursing care to patients and coordinate care planning together with other disciplines. We are looking for a warm and motivated individual, with strong patient care and communication skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and/or an equivalent combination of education, training or work experience. Current Hawai’i Registered Nurse license. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and/or an equivalent combination of education, training or work experience. Minimum one (1) year recent nursing experience in Medical/Surgical setting.
