Job summary

Next Move Healthcare in Peoria, IL is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) Medical-Surgical team. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to medically complex patients who require extended hospital stays and continued acute-level treatment.

The role includes patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, interdisciplinary coordination, patient and family education, and discharge planning, with a focus on developing strong clinical assessment

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN license and BLS.
  • Current Registered Nurse license and Basic Life Support certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient-care skills.
  • Knowledge of medication administration and patient safety.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts.
  • Basic computer and electronic documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care using the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation process.
  • Complete comprehensive admission assessments and ongoing reassessments.
  • Develop and maintain individualized nursing plans of care.
  • Coordinate care plans with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Monitor changes in patient condition and communicate concerns promptly.
  • Administer medications safely according to established standards.
  • Receive and implement physician orders accurately.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Perform nursing treatments within RN scope of practice.
  • Educate patients and families regarding medications and discharge needs.
  • Participate in discharge planning and referrals to other disciplines.
  • Document assessments and care plans accurately in the chart.
  • Supervise and delegate nursing responsibilities as needed.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of interventions and adjust care plans.

Job Title: Registered Nurse – LTAC Med-Surg

Schedule: Full-Time | 12-Hour Night Shifts
Pay Range: $32.94–$49.36 per hour ($68,515–$102,669 annually)
Night Differential: +$4.00 per hour
Weekend Differential: +$3.25 per hour
Sign-On Bonus: $20,000 with a one-year commitment

Job Overview

  • Receive and accurately implement physician orders
  • Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and specialized procedures
  • Perform nursing treatments and procedures within the RN scope of practice
  • Assess and reassess pain and implement appropriate pain-management interventions
  • Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, disease management, and discharge needs
  • Participate in discharge planning and coordinate referrals to other disciplines
  • Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately in the medical record
  • Supervise and delegate nursing responsibilities based on patient needs and staff competency
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and modify plans of care as needed
  • Provide age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered care
  • Address psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and educational needs of patients and families
  • Maintain strong communication with physicians, nursing leadership, coworkers, patients, and families
  • Prioritize multiple patient-care responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and patient-safety requirements
Qualifications
Required
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with one of the following:
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
    • Associate Degree in Nursing
    • Nursing Diploma
  • Current Registered Nurse license
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient-care skills
  • Knowledge of medication administration and patient safety
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize responsibilities, prioritize patient needs, and function effectively under pressure
  • Basic computer and electronic documentation skills
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts
Preferred
  • Active Illinois Registered Nurse license
  • At least six months to one year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
  • Previous acute-care hospital experience
  • Previous LTAC experience
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification

Qualified new graduates may be considered based on clinical preparation and department needs.
