Job summary

Missouri Veterans Commission seeks dedicated LPN/RN to care for veterans at the Missouri Veterans Home. You will assess, plan, and implement nursing care, collaborate with physicians, and document care in the EMR. Options include day, evening, and night shifts with competitive hourly pay.

Eligibility requires MO nursing licensure (RN or LPN). Recent graduates may begin as graduate nurses until licensure results are received. Excellent benefits and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as RN or LPN in Missouri in good standing.
• Recent graduate of an accredited nursing program may practice as graduate nurse until licensure results are received or 90 days after graduation.

Responsibilities

• Assess, organize, and plan staff duties on assigned shift.
• Assess Veterans' needs and ensure services align with care plans.
• Implement Veteran MDS and care plans per healthcare protocol.
• Coordinate rounds with physicians and communicate patient status.
• Transcribe and implement physician orders accurately.
• Document nursing assessments, interventions, and evaluations in EMR.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Assist Veterans with transfers, positioning, feeding, elimination, and hygiene.
• Participate in unit staff orientation.

• Assist Veteran upon admission and/or discharge

LPN Hourly Pay

• Day shift: $29.30 - $31.28/hour
• Evening and night shift: $31.30 - $33.28/hour
• Pay commensurate with experience
• Additional $1.50/hour weekend shift differential available

RN Hourly Pay

• Day shift: $38.92 - $41.80/hour
• Evening and night shift: $42.42 - $45.56/hour
• Pay commensurate with experience

EXAMPLES OF WORK

• Assess, organize, and plan staff duties on assigned shift on assigned unit
• Assess needs of Veterans and ensures services are consistent with needs
• Implement Veteran MDS and care plan according to healthcare protocol
• Make rounds with the physician, inform of status of patients and receive instructions for care and treatment
• Transcribe and implement physician’s orders accurately
• Document accurately all nursing assessments, interventions, and evaluations in electronic medical record (EMR)
• Give medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician accurately with follow‑up observations
• Assist Veteran with various needs such as transferring, positioning, transporting, feeding, promoting elimination, toileting, bathing and showering, etc.
• Assist Veteran upon admission and/or discharge
• Participate in orientation of unit staff

Qualifications

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in Missouri, in good standing, or
• A recent graduate of an accredited nursing program may practice as a graduate nurse until results of first licensure examination are received or until 90 days after graduation, whichever occurs first, as allowed by the Missouri Board of Nursing
