Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking a Level II Competent Registered Nurse to provide total, continuous, and patient-centered care to an assigned group of patients. The RN will use the nursing process and collaborate with the health team to improve care quality.

The role requires a Virginia RN license (or reciprocal state) with two years of RN experience; BSN preferred and BLS/ACLS within specified timelines. NIHSS training may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state.
• BSN is preferred.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• AHA ACLS Provider required within 6 months.
• NIHSS (Bluecloud) required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing care, including oversight of licensed and unlicensed personnel using the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Coordinate involvement of the patient, family and health team members in patient care, including discharge planning.
• Communicate and coordinate the plan of care with other health care team members.
• Assist Leadership to define standards of excellence for patient care; participate in improvement of patient care services.
• Participate in performance improvement and quality improvement activities.
• Participate in orientation of new permanent and temporary staff members.
• Act as point of contact on hospital and departmental policies and procedures to nurses and other health team members.
• Participate in daily operational activities for safe patient/staff environment.
• Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
• Participate in unit, departmental and hospital committees for nursing policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
