Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball is seeking a Registered Nurse PRN to provide individualized, age-specific care in the Labor and Delivery unit. The RN develops and implements a plan of care, assessing patient needs and coordinating with licensed and unlicensed staff to ensure safety and positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• RN must have ADN or BSN degree and be licensed to practice in Texas.
• Experience in Labor and Delivery is preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Texas RN license in good standing is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, age-specific nursing care and create a care plan.
• Assess patient needs and implement the plan with ongoing evaluation.
• Delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff per policy.
• Communicate clearly, both written and verbally, with the care team.
• Maintain safety by following infection control and equipment protocols.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing individualized, age specific, goal directed care. The RN assesses the needs of the patient/client in order to develop a plan of care and then implements and evaluates the plan. The RN bases the plan of care on current nursing knowledge/skills and institutional methodology. The RN accepts assignments that are commensurate with his/her experience, knowledge and ability. The RN delegates tasks to the licensed and unlicensed personnel according to the Texas Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy

What you will do in this role:

• Communicate verbally via telephone
• Communicate verbally in a face-to-face situation
• Communicate in written form
• Communicate and convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
• Inspect machinery, office equipment, and/or medical equipment
• Trouble-shoot medical equipment
• Solve problems requiring interpretation
• Utilize reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Make judgments to take action which could result in death of patient
• Temperature Changes: variations in temperature from hot to cold
• Wet: frequent contact with water or other liquid
• Noise: sufficient noise to cause distraction
• Hazards: conditions where there is danger to life, body and/or health
• Atmospheric Conditions: conditions that affect the skin or respiratory system.
• Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens
• May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
• Exposed to hazards of handling diseased organs and tissues
• Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases
• Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes
• Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards
• May be exposed to bio-hazardous
