Position Summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Irving is part of one of the largest, most respected health systems in Texas and offers a warm, supportive environment for both patients and caregivers. Conveniently located between Dallas and Fort Worth, our facility is known for delivering exceptional maternity and newborn care.

As a Registered Nurse in our Labor and Delivery (L&D) department, you will play a vital role in supporting women and families through one of life’s most meaningful experiences. You will provide high-quality nursing care throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum, working in a fast-paced environment that prioritizes safety, compassion, and excellence.

Staffing And Support

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and fellow nursing professionals. We provide 24/7 physician coverage, state-of-the-art birthing suites, and a Level II NICU for patients needing specialized care. Staff development, continuing education, and clinical support resources are readily available.

Responsibilities Include

• Provide direct, individualized nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and recovery phases.
• Perform comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments, including monitoring vital signs, fetal heart rates, and contraction patterns.
• Administer medications and assist with epidurals, inductions, and emergent interventions such as cesarean sections when necessary.
• Educate and emotionally support patients and families throughout the childbirth experience.
• Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols.
• Respond swiftly and appropriately to emergency situations, including rapid response and code blue events.
• Participate in team huddles, interdisciplinary rounds, and quality improvement initiatives.
  
  

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Specialized Field of Study: Nursing.
• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas (or compact license).
• Certification:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire or within 30 days of start date.
  

Preferred

• Previous Labor & Delivery nursing experience strongly preferred.
• Advanced certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are highly desirable.
