Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Hinsdale, IL, is hiring a Registered Nurse for night shifts to support newborns and mothers in the Labor & Delivery unit. You will deliver immediate newborn care, assist with deliveries, and monitor patients in high and low-risk obstetrical settings.

Requires RN license, BLS, NRP; BSN preferred; 1+ acute nursing experience preferred. Starting pay is 37.50/hr with eligibility for up to 25k sign-on bonus and potential ladder-based increases.

Qualifications

• RN license required (US).
• NRP and BLS certifications required.
• RN licensure must be current.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with newborn care at deliveries, providing immediate care and support to newborns during and after delivery.
• Maintain skills in neonatal resuscitation to respond effectively in emergencies.
• Demonstrate assessment skills in obstetrical patients to identify potential risks and health issues.
• Identify and report maternal and newborn problems to the physician promptly.
• Assist with the transfer of newborns to other facilities when indicated.
• Document all care activities accurately, including band identification numbers.
• Provide care during obstetrical surgical procedures in Labor & Delivery.
• Perform intraoperative and post-anesthesia care according to standards.
• Conduct sterilization processing for instruments and supplies.
• Provide emotional support for grieving parents and connect them with support groups.
• Educate families about newborn care, health conditions, and post-discharge care.

Job Description:

• Registered Nurses starting pay is 37.50/hr
• Up to a $25,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible applicants for 7p-7a shift.

• Perform intraoperative and post-anesthesia care according to established standards.
• Conduct steam sterilization processing for instruments and supplies, ensuring all sterilization parameters are met.
• Provide emotional support for grieving parents, offering compassionate support and connecting them with appropriate support groups.
• Educate and support families about newborn care, health conditions, and post-discharge care.

Education:

• Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• 1+ acute nursing experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Required]
• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
• Neonatal Med Certification (NEONATAL MED) [Preferred]
