We are seeking a dedicated and experienced nurse to join our labor and delivery team. Our unit is known for its fast-paced environment and high acuity, making it an exciting and rewarding place to work. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic work setting and possess the necessary skills to excel in this role.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar unit; 3 years preferred. First-time travelers are welcome with experience in large, high-volume settings.
• Skills: Competency in circulating, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care.
• Certifications: BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP.
  
  

Job Details

• Patient Ratios: 2:1. Average of 20 births in 24 hours, with 30-40 admissions and 40 visits per day across 20 rooms.
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. 36-hour workweeks available.
• Contract Length: 13 to 26 weeks.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
• Float Requirement: Required as needed to the high-risk OB unit.
  
  

Patient Diagnoses

Our unit handles obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for all intrapartum and high-risk antepartum and postpartum care. We also care for high-risk patients under 16 weeks on our high-risk maternity unit. The Birthing Care Unit includes an obstetrical triage unit for patient screening and routine outpatient procedures such as antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration. Scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage are performed.

Special Procedures and Unit Details

The unit is very fast-paced, busier, and higher acuity than might typically be expected. It may not be realistic for nurses to take 48-hour contracts due to the workload. Strong preference for RNs with experience in circulating to the OR.

• Unit Systems: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR.
• Unit Orientation: 24 hours.
• Scrubs: Provided (blue).
• Interview Availability: Please provide your availability for the next 72 hours to expedite the interview process. The manager will not offer a position without an interview.
