Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for Labor & Delivery at a Level III unit. This full-time position supports day shift coverage and emphasizes evidence-based obstetric care within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates will have ASN with BSN preferred, have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program, and hold an active IN RN license with BLS certification. Opportunities for professional development and committee involvement are offered.

Qualifications

• Requires ASN; BSN preferred.
• Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Active Indiana RN license or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Additional ACLS/ALS may be required depending on unit staffing and practice requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate evidence-based nursing care across triage, labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, CRNAs, APPs, and other team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care for obstetric patients across the care continuum.
• Demonstrate high nursing autonomy on a Level III Labor & Delivery unit.
• Support professional growth and participate in unit-based committees and quality improvement initiatives.

About Labor & Delivery at IU Health Arnett

IU Health Arnett Labor & Delivery consists of:

• 7 Labor & Delivery rooms
• 4 Triage/Antepartum beds
• 2 Obstetrical Operating Rooms
• 1 PACU bay

As a Level III Labor & Delivery unit, we care for a wide range of patients, including many high-risk pregnancies. The team is supported by:

• Dedicated CRNAs on-site 24/7
• OB Laborists on-site 24/7
• Scheduled Certified Nurse Midwives
• Highly collaborative partnerships with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams

Our patients remain with us throughout their pregnancy-related hospitalization, including triage, labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery, allowing nurses to develop strong patient relationships while managing the full continuum of obstetrical care.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Additional Advanced Life Support certifications may be required based on unit or specialty practice requirements.
