POSITION PURPOSE

Coordinates and administers medical and nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process, which involves assessment of the patient's physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs; planning and development of an individualized care plan; implementation of the care plan; and evaluation of the patient's response. Complies with all established standards and practices.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

Associate Degree in Nursing

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire.
Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse in Wisconsin and/or Illinois, depending on job location.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

Ability to read, write, speak, hear, and understand English.
Physical, technical, and cognitive ability, including manual dexterity, to operate patient care equipment.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Demonstrates competency with specific clinical skills and techniques as listed in the department/unit skills list, functioning within the Wisconsin Nurse Practices Act and hospital/nursing policies.
• Coordinates and administers medical and nursing care using the nursing process as a framework.
• Collaborates effectively with the healthcare team, providing leadership to achieve positive patient outcomes within established timeframes.
• Administers medications, IVs, and treatments safely and timely, following policies and procedures.
• Coordinates patient teaching and education.
• Uses correct and safe techniques in the use of patient care equipment, adhering to product information and policies.
• Maintains a clean and organized patient environment to promote rest and healing.
• Completes nursing care activities efficiently within the assigned shift in a professional manner.
• Responds promptly and courteously to patient call lights.
• Recognizes life-threatening situations and emergencies, taking appropriate actions swiftly.
• Participates in implementing and monitoring unit-based Quality Assurance standards.
• Assists in training new staff and nursing students during clinical rotations.
