Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department, a 23-bed unit that provides initial treatment for a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries. The role expects Maryland RN licensure or MD Compact eligibility, with BSN preferred and at least one year of nursing experience.

The nurse will leverage solid clinical skills, provide independent care, and act as a clinical resource within a collaborative interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient

Qualifications

  • BSN preferred.
  • One year nursing experience.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Up-to-date status on mandatory training and classes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides independent care to unit-specific patient population; serves as a clinical resource for others.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient/family needs.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for others and participates in team development and evaluation.
  • Assists in implementing Relationship-Based Care models and suggests improvement methods.
  • Participates in data collection related to Relationship-Based Care outcomes (hand offs, medication safety, etc).
  • Contributes to Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators (NSQI) initiatives.

The Emergency Department is a 23-bed unit that must provide initial treatment for a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries.

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • One year nursing experience.
  • Solid knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Provides independent care to unit specific patient population; serves as clinical resource for others, utilizes and integrates evidence into practice, functions effectively in roles specific to unit (such as arrest team for ICU, triage for ED, etc).
  • Serves as an effective primary coordinating nurse; collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient/family needs.
  • Serves as clinical resource for others.
  • Assists in team development and evaluation of the Relationship-Based Care model; suggests methods for improvement.
  • Participates in collection of data related to Relationship-Based Care outcomes (e.g. hand offs, medication safety, etc).
  • Participates in implementation efforts addressing Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators (NSQI).
Work Experience
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
