Job summary

Mercy is seeking a registered nurse to provide patient care using the nursing process and to coordinate care with other departments. The role requires maintaining patient confidentiality and professional accountability in alignment with Mercy Service Standards.

Applicants must have an RN license in the hiring state or via compact licensure, plus 1 year of nursing experience. Current life support certification is required within 90 days of hire, with BLS/ACLS/PALS as applicable by department.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• RN licensure required in hiring state and/or compact licensure.
• 1 year of nursing experience.
• Life support certification current upon hire and aligned with Mercy policy; for MS/WC/BLS; CC-BLS; ACLS; ED-BLS/ACLS/PALS.

Position Details

• Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
• Experience: 1 year of experience
• Certifications: Life support certification current upon hire and in alignment with Mercy policy no later than 90 days after hire. For Med Surg (MS) and Women's and Children's (WC) - BLS For Critical Care (CC) - BLS, ACLS For ED - BLS, ACLS, PALS

Physical requirements/demands

• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
