Job summary

CoxHealth is seeking a dedicated Float Pool Critical Care Nurse for the CoxHealth South facility in Springfield, MO. The nurse will provide direct, individualized care to acutely ill patients in a high-technology, monitoring-intensive environment, while assisting physicians with procedures.

Required is graduation from an accredited nursing program with MO RN licensure; BSN is preferred and prior critical care experience is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (RN) required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and individualized care to acutely ill patients in a critical care setting.
• Monitor and adjust ICU equipment and interpret electronic monitors.
• Assist physicians with required medical procedures and treatments.
• Document patient condition and respond to changes in status.

Job Description

The float critical care nurse provides direct and individualized care to acutely and critically ill patients, in a highly technical and ongoing monitoring environment. They assess the patient’s condition, perform diagnostic tests, begin treatments and assist doctors with any required medical procedures. The critical care nurse monitors and adjusts specialized equipment, interprets and records electronic displays; i.e. intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, ventilator settings, etc.

Education

• Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Experience

• Preferred: Previous nursing experience
