Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our ICU team. You’ll provide compassionate, high-quality critical care and work with an experienced interdisciplinary group to improve patient outcomes.

Requirements include an NC RN license, 1–2 years ICU experience, and an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s Degree preferred). You’ll manage ventilators, drips, and patient education with families.

Job Description

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Able to manage ventilators, cpap/bipap, vapotherms.
• Able to titrate and maintain critical drips on the ICU patient, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
• Must pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer.

What we’re looking for

• Applicants should have a current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
• 1-2 years of recent ICU experience required.
• Associate’s Degree in Nursing Required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred.
• Requires critical thinking skills.
• Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

• Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually
