Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System is seeking an experienced RN for the ICU to join our night shift team (3 x 12 hr shifts, 7p–7a) with rotating weekends. Eligible for a commitment bonus of $20,000 for experienced RNs or $10,000 for new graduates.

As part of Lifepoint Health, you will provide high-quality critical care, collaborate across disciplines, and support patient families in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• NC RN license to practice in NC (or multi-state compact).
• 1–2 years of ICU experience required.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans care interventions including medication administration and procedures.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and enhances comfort.
• Collaborates across disciplines for transfers, discharges, referrals and psychosocial support.
• Educates patient and family appropriate to age and culture.
• Advocates for patient physical and emotional well-being.
• Floats to other departments to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Manages ventilators and CPAP/BiPAP, Vapotherm as needed.
• Titrates and maintains critical drips with indications and side effects.

Job Description

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.

Able to manage ventilators, cpap/bipap, vapotherms.

Able to titrate and maintain critical drips on the ICU patient, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.

Must pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).

1-2 years of recent ICU experience required.

Associate's Degree in Nursing Required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred.

Additional requirements include:

• Requires critical thinking skills.
• Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire
• Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually
