Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical to care for a diverse patient population in our 18-bed unit. You will perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications, and document care while collaborating with a supportive team.

You will monitor patient conditions, educate patients and families, and participate in discharge planning and care coordination.

Qualifications

• Current RN license to practice in NC (or multi-state license).
• Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's preferred.
• 1-3 years of acute care experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Requires critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Complete initial and ongoing patient assessments.
• Perform assessment-based plan of care including medications and treatments.
• Document patient care provided and communicate changes to care team.
• Monitor and report patient condition to physicians, patients, and families.
• Assist with activities of daily living and patient hygiene.
• Coordinate patient transfers, discharge planning, and referrals.
• Provide patient/family education tailored to culture and age.
• Act as patient advocate and support care team collaboration.
• Assist with orientation and training of other staff as directed.

Job description

This position is eligible for a commitment bonus! $20,000 for experienced RNs, and $10,000 for new graduate RNs.

Schedule: 3 x 12 hr. shifts per week on the Day Shift (7a - 7p) + every third weekend

Our 2nd Medical Unit is an 18-bed unit caring for a wide variety of adult medical patients, with occasional surgical patients as census and care needs require. The team is collaborative, supportive, and focused on delivering high-quality patient care in a caring, professional environment. How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgicalwho excels in this role:

• Completes initial and ongoing assessments.
• Assessments include physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care abilities, educational, age appropriate, cultural and discharge planning needs.
• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Employee supervises others.
• Assists with orientation and training of others as directed.

What we're looking for

• Applicants should have a current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
• Associate's degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1-3 years preferred and recent acute care experience within past 3 years preferred.

Additional requirements include:

• Requires critical thinking skills.
• Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Handle with care within 4 months after hire date.
