Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System is seeking an ICU Registered Nurse to join our team on the night shift (7p–7a) with a 3 x 12 hour schedule and rotating weekends. Eligible for a commitment bonus of $20,000 for experienced RNs or $10,000 for new graduates.

Qualifications

• Must have current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state license).
• 1-2 years of ICU experience required.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing Required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers plan of care and medications, collects specimens and provides treatments.
• Documents patient care and monitors patient condition; communicates with care team, physicians, patients and families.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and coordinates care across disciplines.
• Educates patient and family, and advocates for patient well-being.
• Floats to other departments to maintain nurse-to-patient ratios; handles ventilators and critical drips.
• Manages ventilators, cpap/bipap, vapotherms and titrates critical drips with knowledge of indications and side effects.
• Passes rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer.

Job Description

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Able to manage ventilators, cpap/bipap, vapotherms.
• Able to titrate and maintain critical drips on the ICU patient, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
• Must pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer.

What We're Looking For

• Applicants should have a current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
• 1-2 years of recent ICU experience required.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing Required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred.

Additional Requirements Include

• Requires critical thinking skills.
• Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire
• Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually
