Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking an ICU Registered Nurse (RN). Join a mission-driven team delivering high-quality patient-centered care on a 3 x 12 hour night schedule with rotating weekends.

The role requires an NC RN license and 1–2 years ICU experience, with an Associate degree as a minimum and a Bachelor's preferred. A commitment bonus is available for experienced or new grad RNs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and administer nursing care including medications and treatments.
• Document patient care and monitor patient condition.
• Coordinate with care team for transfers, discharges and family education.
• Assist with activities of daily living and patient comfort.
• Float to other departments to maintain nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Manage ventilators and critical drips as needed in ICU.

Job Description

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Able to manage ventilators, cpap/bipap, vapotherms.
• Able to titrate and maintain critical drips on the ICU patient, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
• Must pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer.

What we're looking for

• Applicants should have a current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
• 1-2 years of recent ICU experience required.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing Required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred.

Additional requirements include:

• Requires critical thinking skills.
• Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire
• Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually
