The Hospital-Based Outpatient Oncology/Non-Oncology Infusion Unit is a specialized treatment area designed to provide safe, efficient, and patient-centered infusion therapy for individuals requiring both oncology and non-oncology infusion services. As a hospital-based outpatient department, the unit operates under hospital clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and quality protocols while providing convenient access to outpatient infusion care.

The unit features six infusion chairs, each equipped to support a wide range of intravenous therapies and supportive care treatments. All treatments are administered by oncology-trained registered nurses who follow evidence-based guidelines, specialized medication-handling procedures, and continuous patient-monitoring practices.

The care team collaborates closely with oncology providers, primary care physicians, specialists, and pharmacists to ensure coordinated treatment planning and continuity across the patient’s care journey. The environment is designed to promote comfort, safety, and privacy while maintaining efficient patient flow for both scheduled and time-sensitive infusion needs.

The unit’s core mission is to deliver high-quality, compassionate outpatient infusion care within a hospital-based setting, prioritizing safety, patient education, clinical excellence, and an optimal treatment experience. Within our department, our nurses are to obtain a Chemotherapy/biotherapy provider certificate within 6 months of hire. Additionally, newly hired nurses are required to obtain Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) certification within three years of hire, with organizational support provided to help meet this requirement.
