Summary of Role:

Responsible for planning, delivering, documenting, and evaluating nursing care for patients in an assigned area, based on individual needs, provider’s orders, and recognized nursing standards. Directs nursing staff activities, observes and assesses patient conditions, and maintains accurate documentation. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:
  • Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program, current Ohio RN licensure, and AHA BLS certification (or obtained within 90 days).
  • Knowledge of nursing theory, medical sciences, nursing techniques, and asepsis.
  • Ability to maintain positive relations and physical dexterity.

PRN and Float Staff must have at least one year of recent clinical experience in their area. All clinical nurses must acquire specific unit competencies, including certifications in ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and certification.
  • Specific experience in areas such as Step down, Operating Room (CNOR), PACU, psychiatric, radiology, cardio-pulmonary rehab, or TB clinics.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, walk, and lift up to 250-300 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, chemicals, and cleaning products is possible.
