Summary:

Plans for, delivers, documents and evaluates nursing care of patients in an assigned area in terms of their individual needs, according to provider's orders and in conformance with approved and recognized nursing standards of care, techniques, procedures and administrative policy. Directs activities of assigned nursing personnel. Observes, assesses and reports on patient conditions. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of care. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current RN licensure in Ohio.
• Current AHA BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, biological, physical, psychosocial, and medical sciences.
• Knowledge of instruments, equipment, and supplies related to nursing.
• Knowledge of medical asepsis.
• Ability to maintain positive relations with staff and medical personnel.
• High physical coordination and dexterity.
• PRN and Float staff must have at least one year of recent clinical experience.
• All clinical nurses must acquire unit-specific competencies, including certifications such as ACLS, PALS, and NRP as per unit requirements.

Preferred:

• BSN and certification.
• Experience in Step down, OR, PACU, psychiatric, radiology, or cardio-pulmonary nursing.
• PALS certification.
• Experience with smoking cessation, wellness, exercise programs for special populations.
• TB Clinic or Public Health experience.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Supervisory or project management experience.

Physical Requirements:

Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, walking, extended periods of sitting or standing. Visual and auditory capabilities within normal range. Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance. Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, chemicals, and cleaning products.
