Job summary

Huntington Health in Pasadena, CA is seeking a Registered Nurse for FT Nights (12 HR) in Emergency Services. You will coordinate patient care, discharge planning, and resource identification while guiding care across the health care continuum.

A BSN is required or you may be enrolled in a BSN program with degree completion within 2 years. Minimum 1 year of acute care experience, preferably trauma, plus active California RN license, BLS/PALS/ACLS, NIHSS within 30 days, and successful completion

Qualifications

• Experience with electronic documentation/EHR systems.
• California RN license active and unrestricted (BRN).
• Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS from AHA.
• NIHSS within 30 days of hire/transfer.
• Must pass Basic Dysrhythmia course within 21 days of hire.
• ED Core Curriculum if new to ED; on-unit preceptorship.
• ENPC or EDAP course within 6 months of hire/transfer; TNCC/ATCN/TCAR within 6 months.

Job Description

Responsible for coordination of care to meet identified needs of the patient/family. Supervises the management of patient care utilizing critical thinking and nursing process, discharge planning, resource identification, linking and scheduling patients with required services, monitoring care delivery, advocating for the patient, care planning and evaluating outcomes. Coordinates patient care across the health care continuum, and assists other team members with meeting individual patient needs. This position may require flexibility of hours.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) will be considered if enrolled in a BSN program with degree completion within 2 years of date of hire or date of transfer to an RN position.

Experience/Training

• Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in acute care area of expertise/equivalent service area, preferably in trauma nursing.
• Experience with electronic documentation/EHR systems.

Licenses/Certifications

Required:

• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
• Current Basic Life Support Provider (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider (PALS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association (AHA)
• Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) within 30 days of hire/transfer
• Must challenge and successfully pass the Basic Dysrhythmia course curriculum within 21 days of hire.
• If new to ED, must successfully pass the ED Core Curriculum and complete required on-unit preceptorship.
• Current Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or an approved two-day Emergency Department Approved Pediatrics (EDAP) course issued by Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
• Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses Course (ATCN or TCAR) issued by Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
