Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) seeks a flexible Registered Nurse for the Medical/Surgical Float Pool. This per diem role provides 24/7 coverage across medical-surgical areas, delivering high-quality care with adaptability and teamwork.

You will assess, plan, intervene, and educate patients; communicate with care teams; and support quality-improvement initiatives while maintaining accurate records. Required MA RN license; BLS; ACLS during orientation; PCC certification within 1 year; Diploma/ASN/BSN

Qualifications

  • Licensed RN in Massachusetts.
  • 1+ year RN experience preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS required; ACLS completed during orientation.
  • PCC certification required within 1 year of hire.
  • Diploma/ASN/BSN preferred; BSN-compatible coursework encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care across Medical Surgical units in the Float Pool.
  • Communicate with the health-care team, patients, and families.
  • Coordinate and delegate patient care activities to inter-professional staff.
  • Update and manage patient records; interpret data in electronic systems.
  • Assist leadership with quality-improvement projects.
  • Support clinical education and patient education efforts.

Position Summary

Med/Surge Float RNs provide 24/7 clinical excellence for med/surge areas. Nurses must be flexible and versatile. The Float Pool provides a clinical overview that is unparalleled in any other med/surge area.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
  • Update and manage patient records
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
Job Requirements
  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life support(ACLS) completed during orientation.
  • PCC Certification required within 1 year of hire which is offered by the hospital.
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Fluency in another language a plus
Compensation Range

$39.80- $93.69

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
