Job summary

New York Health (NYH) in Hewlett, NY seeks a Registered Nurse - Urology - Float to support a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality patient care across urology services. You will assess patients, chart vitals, assist physicians, and provide education to patients and families.

The role requires NYS RN licensure, strong clinical skills, EMR proficiency (preferred), and the ability to commute to NYH locations.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State RN License.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Create individualized care plans for patients under supervision.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, weight, and height.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to share expertise and knowledge.
• Assist physician with exams and/or urologic procedures.
• Sterilize surgical instruments.
• Prepare and administer injections.
• Provide resources to patients and families to promote a positive outlook.
• Teach patients and families regarding treatment expectations.
• Record patient progress and response to treatment.
• Provide discharge instructions with emergency contacts.

Registered Nurse - Urology - Float

Location: Hewlett, Richmond Hill, Forest Hills, Massapequa

Hours/Days: 5/ 8.5 hours shifts M-F 7:30am - 5pm

In this role, you will:

• Create individualized care plans for patients under your supervision and care.

• Assist physician with exams and/or urologic procedures
• Sterilize surgical instruments
• Prepare and administer injections
• Provide supportive resources to the patient and the families to promote a positive outlook.
• Teach patients and the families regarding treatment expectations.
• Watch and record the patient's progress on a constant basis
• Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
• Complete MAR after treatment.
• Provide the patient with discharge instructions that are specific to the patient as well as emergency numbers after care.

We require:

• Valid New York State RN License
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient bodily fluids.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs
• Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred
