Job summary

Inova Health System's Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Fellow to join the Progressive Care Unit. The role is full-time, day shift 7am–7pm (3 12hr shifts); eligible nurses may receive a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

The 36-bed PCU cares for cardiac telemetry patients with complex conditions; RN Fellows progress toward independent practice while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an ADN, BSN must be completed within 5 years.
• Requires a minimum of 1-year RN clinical experience in acute care.
• Virginia RN license or eligibility under eNLC; BLS certification required on start.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting data and trends.
• Forms individualized care plans based on assessments to guide best practices.
• Delivers patient- and family-centered care and coordinates services for transitions.
• Advocates for patients' rights and provides counseling as a resource.
• Documents all care activities and supports the healthcare team with records.
• Evaluates care processes to ensure outcomes and revises plans as needed.
• Makes clinical decisions to promote development of clinical decision-making among team members.

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for a dedicated Experienced Registered Nurse Fellow to transition to the Progressive Care team. This role will be Full-time Day Shift: 7am-7pm (3 12hr shifts). Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available for eligible nurses.

Patients admitted require cardiac telemetry monitoring and frequently have cardiac, renal, respiratory, and/or gastrointestinal disease processes. Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Job Responsibilities:

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships.
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.
• Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.
• Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care.
• Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate’s degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Experience: Requires a minimum of 1-year Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.
• Certification:Currently licensedas a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.

Preferred Qualifications:

**Two years of progressive care experience is strongly preferred.**
