Job summary

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking an Experienced Registered Nurse to join our 4S (IMC/PCU) team. This Part-Time, Days position features two 12‑hour shifts, 7:00 a.m.

– 7:00 p.m., in Fairfax, Virginia, with a patient population spanning progressive and intermediate care needs. The RN will assess patients, develop care plans, and coordinate care across disciplines to ensure safe transitions and high‑quality outcomes while supporting a team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing; if ADN, BSN must be completed within 5 years of start date.
• Minimum of 1 year RN clinical experience in acute care.
• Current Virginia RN license or privilege to practice under eNLC; BLS certification required at start.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting data and trends.
• Forms individualized care plans based on assessments and best practice data.
• Delivers patient care in a family‑centered model and advocates for patient rights.
• Documents all patient care activities and supports team with documentation.

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for a dedicated Experienced Registered Nurse to join our 4S (IMC/PCU) team. This role will be Part‑Time, Days (2- 12 hour shifts) 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The 4 South (IMC/PCU) unit at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is comprised of 11 beds. The patient population consists of Progressive Care and Intermediate Care - cardiac, neurological, patients who require isolation, dialysis or larger beds. Ideal for candidates who possess strong time management skills, work well in a team‑paced settings.

Registered Nurse (RN) 4S (IMC/PCU) Job Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships.
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.
• Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.
• Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care.
• Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate’s degree (ADN) must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Experience: Requires a minimum of 1‑year Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.
• Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in Intermediate Care Unit is strongly preferred. Open to RN experience in Observation/Overflow, ED, PCU, Cardiac Telemetry and Med Surg units.
