Job summary

Surgi-Center of Central VA is hiring a Registered Nurse Endoscopy PRN to support our outpatient surgical program. The role involves preoperative assessment, anesthesia administration under supervision, PACU monitoring, patient education, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure smooth transitions and high safety standards.

Ideal candidates will be graduates of an accredited RN program, hold an unrestricted VA license, and be BLS certified, with at least 1 year in outpatient endoscopy

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Current VA RN license.
• BLS Required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in Outpatient Endoscopy or surgery.
• Prefer 2 years’ experience in a GI setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough preoperative assessments and ensure patients are prepared physically and emotionally.
• Administer medications and anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist.
• Monitor patients in PACU and assess recovery and vital signs.
• Provide postoperative education regarding care and expectations.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth transitions between phases.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Assist with developing and implementing nursing care plans.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.

Registered Nurse Endoscopy at Surgi-Center of Central VA:

• Monitor patients closely in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), assessing their recovery and vital signs.
• Provide comprehensive patient education regarding postoperative care and expectations.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth transition between preoperative and postoperative phases.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Assist with the development and implementation of nursing care plans.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
