Job summary

Grand Strand Medical Center – HCA in Myrtle Beach, SC seeks an experienced perioperative RN to support surgical patients. You will evaluate patients before surgery, educate families about procedures, and manage IV therapy, pre‑op meds, and site verification per universal protocols.

You will work within an interdisciplinary team, respond to emergencies, and uphold evidence‑based nursing practices while driving workflow improvements in a fast-paced OR environment.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BCLS certifications required.
• Endoscopy experience of 1+ year preferred.
• Active RN license in the appropriate state.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about peri-operative care.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy and pre-operative meds.
• Participate in site verification and universal protocol steps.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based perioperative care.

• Apply nursing process with leadership and critical thinking.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes.

What you will do in this role

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education regarding the procedure and peri‑operative process
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, pre‑operative medications, and surgical site verification
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time‑out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while managing evidence‑based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
• Act as an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team
• Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes and care provided thoroughly
• Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up measures

Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
• Registered Nurse license (RN)
• At least 1 year of endoscopy experience
