Provides nursing care that supports the total person and promotes adaptation through counseling, teaching, direct care, and collaboration with healthcare professionals. The Staff Nurse meets patient needs in accordance with the Nursing Division's philosophy, policies, and procedures.
Required Education/Experience:
- Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred). Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years.
- 2-5 years nursing experience (urgent care, medical-surgical, telemetry).
- ER Nurse experience preferred.
Required Certification/Licensure:
- Current licensure in Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS/ACLS certification required. PALS preferred.
Required skills/abilities:
- Meets performance criteria of Staff Nurse.
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to perform mathematical computations for medication and treatment administration.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients.
- Basic computer knowledge.

- Provides superior customer service to patients, clients, and customers.
- Utilizes the nursing process: assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
- Practices and promotes nursing within professional, legal, and ethical standards.
- Provides patient and family teaching.
- Orients and collaborates with nursing personnel and students.
- Participates in educational programs and unit quality improvement activities.
- Supports ongoing learning and demonstrates leadership skills.
- Contributes to the Medical Center's Performance Improvement plan.
- Uses current research in clinical practice.
- Complies with patient safety goals.
