Full Time Day Shift
7:00 A.M - 7:00 P.M - 36 hrs/wk
This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses who have greater than 12 months experience. Provides and coordinates independent care to patients within a clinical specialty as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team. Utilizes the institution’s care delivery and professional practice models as the frame of reference for practicing as a professional nurse. Participates in activities to develop own practice, and to support group practice goals at the unit level. Is accountable to patients, families, and team members for care provided and to the nurse manager for overall work performance. Is committed to the Service Standards and to the Nursing Mission, Vision, and Values.

Clinical Practice:
- Competency in care of the specific patient population; practices independently with solid knowledge and clinical skills; actively advances own practice.

- Functions effectively in roles specific to the unit, such as arrest team for ICU, triage for ED, etc.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care; advocates independently for patient/family needs.
- Models practice consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, patient-centered care.
Professional Development:
- Engaged in advancing own practice.
- Responsible for maintaining competencies required for the patient care setting; focuses on professional growth.
- Attends unit-based staff development independently.
- Serves as a trained preceptor and coach for new nurses and students.
- Contributes to developing and evaluating unit-based orientation and educational activities.
- Supports nursing support personnel skills and development.
- Completes CEUs annually as per facility requirements.
Service/Quality:
- Contributes to unit-based outcomes related to National Hospital Quality Measures, Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators, and Facility Operational Plans.
- Supports research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Delivers high-quality, safe, patient-centered care, exceeding service expectations.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory standards; participates in tracer activities.
- Acts to correct risks to patient safety.
- Reports adverse events and near misses.
- Implements policies and guidelines consistently.
- Maintains effective communication with team members.
- Identifies risks in processes, procedures, devices, and communicates them.
- Participates in safety initiatives.
Operations:
- Demonstrates ability to function as charge nurse.
- Participates in team building and staff meetings.
- Contributes to governance structures and recruitment activities.
- Provides peer review and performance feedback.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or eligible via Compact agreements; current AHA BLS certification; unit-specific certifications (PALS, ACLS, NRP); >12 months nursing experience; strong clinical skills; effective communication; basic computer skills.
- Must meet all professional licensing and certification requirements.
- Ability to provide age-specific care and demonstrate growth and development knowledge relevant to patient populations.

Compensation:
- Pay Range: $34.5 - $53.55 per hour
