ED EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED!

$15,000 signing bonus with a 2-year commitment

Full Time Day Shift

7:00 AM - 7:00 PM - 36 hrs/wk

This role is considered the minimum for all nurses with more than 12 months of experience. The nurse provides and coordinates independent care within a clinical specialty as a fully effective member of the multidisciplinary patient care team. Utilizes the institution’s care delivery and professional practice models as references for practicing as a professional nurse. Participates in activities to develop personal practice and support group practice goals at the unit level. Is accountable to patients, families, team members, and the nurse manager for care quality and work performance, aligning with Service Standards and the Nursing Mission, Vision, and Values.

Essential Functions of the Job
  1. The following describes the general nature and level of work performed by personnel in this classification. These are not exhaustive lists of all duties.
Clinical Practice
  1. Competency in care of the unit-specific patient population; practices independently with solid knowledge and skills; actively advances own practice.
  2. Serves as a clinical resource for colleagues.
  3. Applies and integrates evidence-based practices.
  4. Performs roles specific to the unit, such as arrest team in ICU or triage in ED.
  5. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to plan, coordinate, and advocate for patient/family needs.
  6. Models practices that ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient-centered care.
Professional Development
  1. Engages in advancing personal practice.
  2. Maintains competencies required for the patient care setting; focuses on professional growth.
  3. Attends unit-based staff development independently.
  4. Serves as a trained preceptor and coach for new nurses and students.
  5. Contributes to developing and evaluating unit orientation and educational activities.
  6. Supports skill development of nursing support personnel.
  7. Completes annual continuing education requirements.
Service/Quality
  1. Contributes to unit-based outcomes related to national quality measures and operational plans.
  2. Supports research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives.
  3. Delivers high-quality, safe, patient-centered care exceeding service expectations.
  4. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and participates in tracer activities.
Patient Safety
  1. Takes action to mitigate observed risks to patient safety.
  2. Reports adverse events and near misses.
  3. Implements policies and procedures consistently.
  4. Maintains effective communication and relationships with team members.
  5. Identifies and communicates potential risks.
  6. Participates in safety initiatives.
Operations
  1. Functions effectively in the charge nurse role.
  2. Participates in team building and contributes to meetings.
  3. Engages in governance and recruitment activities.
  4. Provides performance feedback as directed.

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Experience, and Certifications:

  1. Maryland RN licensure or eligibility through Compact agreements; current AHA BLS certification; unit-specific certifications (PALS, ACLS, NRP); over 12 months of nursing experience; effective communication skills; basic computer skills.
  2. Must meet all licensing and professional requirements for Maryland practice.
  3. Ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development, data assessment, and patient-specific needs.
