Job summary

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Department RN for the evening shift (11am–11pm) in Williamsburg, VA. This full-time role offers a competitive base pay and a substantial bonus opportunity.

The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced ED, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and participate in ongoing education and specialty requirements. ACLS/BLS/PALS certifications are expected or in progress.

Qualifications

• ED experience strongly preferred.
• RNs with acute care floor nursing will be considered.
• New grads will be considered.
• Meets and maintains required specialty certifications (ACLS, BLS, PALS).
• RN license valid to practice in Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Assess/admit patients, round, monitor, give medications, communicate with families, coordinate care.
• Promote teamwork; collaborate to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain professional standards: ethics, communication, education, evidence-based practice, safety.
• Meet specialty requirements; all Direct Care RNs must have BLS within 90 days of hire.

Compensation

Up to $20,000 bonus

Base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly.

Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.

Requirements

• ED EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED

Education

Responsibilities

• Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.


• Maintain standards of professional performance: ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.


• Met and maintain any requirements defined by specific specialty; All Direct Care RNs are required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.


• Assess/admit patients, rounding checks, give medications, talk with family members, and be responsible for the overall care of patients.


• Assist in promoting teamwork; every team member works together to ensure the best care for patients.
