Job summary

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, VA, seeks a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department (11A–11P). This full-time role offers benefits and a bonus of up to $15,000 for qualified RNs.

The RN will provide nursing care, perform admissions, administer medications, and support families as part of a collaborative team. Required: RN licensure in Virginia; ACLS/BLS/PALS credentials preferred; ED experience or 1+ year in acute care.

Qualifications

• ED experience strongly preferred.
• RNs with more than 1 year acute care floor nursing; ED experience strongly preferred if none.
• Meets and maintains requirements defined by specific specialty (ACLS, BLS, PALS).
• RN license valid to work in the State of Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Assess/admit patients and perform rounds checks.
• Administer medications and monitor patient status.
• Communicate with family members about care and treatment.
• Provide care following the nursing process and standards of practice.

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; All Direct Care RNs are required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
