Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking an ER Registered Nurse for a per diem position at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. You will provide rapid, skilled emergency care, triage patients on arrival, administer treatments, and support life-saving interventions in a fast-paced department.

The role requires current RN licensure, BLS/ACLS/PALS, and 1+ year ER/acute care experience; CEN/BSN preferred. Per diem schedule offers flexible shifts with comprehensive benefits through Prime Healthcare.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate on hire and maintain.
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire and maintain.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as staff RN in an acute care hospital setting; ER setting preferred.
• CEN certification preferred; BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients on arrival and triage to prioritize care.
• Provide direct care including medications, wound care, monitoring vital signs, and pain management.
• Assist with stabilization and life-saving interventions (ACLS, PALS, trauma care).
• Manage high-stress, fast-changing situations across multiple patients.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans.

The ER RN provides rapid and skilled care to patients who arrive at the hospital seeking emergency medical attention. The ER Nurses are skilled professionals who play a critical role in delivering emergent and urgent care to patients in the emergency department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Assess patients upon arrival todeterminethe severity of their condition and prioritizecareaccordingly, follow standardized triage protocols to quicklyidentifypatients who require immediate attention due to life-threatening conditions
• Provide direct care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries which may involve administering medications, performing procedures such as wound care or splinting,monitoringvital signs, and managing pain
• In cases of severe illness or trauma, you mayassistwith stabilizing patients andinitiatinglife-saving interventions, this can include advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and trauma care
• Managehigh-stressand rapidly changing situations effectively. remain calm, focused, and decisive while providing care to multiple patients simultaneously during busy shifts or mass casualty events
• Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

• Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):
• In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
• EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
• Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.
