The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center seeks an Inpatient Diabetes Educator RN to provide evidence-based diabetes education to hospitalized patients and families, and to support discharge planning. This role participates in team education, policy development, and quality improvement efforts to improve glycemic outcomes.
The role requires an RN license in Texas, BLS, and diabetes education certification within the first year, with a focus on ADA and ADCES standards.
Full-Time; Four 10-hour shifts per week, including availability for at least one weekend day

The Diabetes Educator RN provides evidence-based diabetes self-management education and support to newly diagnosed and complex diabetes patients and their families throughout hospitalization and discharge planning. This role develops and implements standardized patient and staff education programs, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to support care planning and transitions of care, and serves as a diabetes content expert to promote best practices, policy development, and quality improvement initiatives. The Diabetes Educator actively participates in organizational committees, identifies opportunities to improve glycemic outcomes, provides counseling and emotional support, and ensures all education and documentation meet institutional and ADA standards.
