Responsible for coordinating unit-based education for UT Southwestern professional clinical staff and unlicensed assistive personnel with regard to orientation and clinical education to ensure staff are able to demonstrate current competencies and meet professional standards of practice within an assigned areas.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
REQUIRED
  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing with licensure as a Registered Nurse by Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.
  • Experience
    2 years work in a clinical specialty.
  • Licenses and Certifications
    (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire
    (RN) REGISTERED NURSE by Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. Upon Hire
    Maintains and obtains all required certifications specific to the assigned unit, as necessary to support patient care delivery, in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
JOB DUTIES
  • Provides orientation, ongoing education and skills training for staff, including new hires and agency staff.
  • Provides real-time input and just-in-time training on new and current staff's clinical practice.
  • Regarded as clinical expert and role model in application of the nursing processes and evidence-based practice to manage the complex care needs of specific patient populations.
  • Facilitates preceptor training, resident assignment, and preceptor competencies for specific unit.
  • Assists unit leadership in initial and annual competencies for new and current clinical staff.
  • Performs annual unit-specific needs assessment and ongoing educational gap analysis.
  • Serves as a facilitator to nurse and patient care technician residents and actively mentors and supports their growth in the profession and clinical practice.
  • Works collaboratively with clinical leaders to properly identify and prioritize goals and objectives to meet the needs of the department and/or organization.
  • Provide educational programs on a formal and informal basis.
  • Perform one staffing shift on your assigned unit, Biweekly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
