Job summary

Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver skilled nursing care, develop care plans, and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team. You will work three 8-hour shifts and one 12-hour shift weekly, with on‑call responsibilities including nights, weekends, and one holiday per year.

An active RN license is required, with eligibility for loan repayment programs. PTO starts day one and a strong retirement plan is offered.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and coordinating with the health care team.
• Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories and documenting patient condition.
• Teaches patients and families about conditions, medications, and self‑care skills.
• Evaluates patient care and adjusts nursing care plans to meet outcomes and standards.
• Maintains a safe, infection‑control compliant environment and adheres to policies and procedures.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Keeps nursing equipment and supplies in working order and coordinates maintenance as needed.
• Maintains competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership.
