Job summary

Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive patient care in a multidisciplinary team. Shifts vary with days, nights, weekends and holidays on-call involvement; up to 72 hours over two weeks.

Excellent clinical skills and patient education are expected. May be eligible for a $15,000 sign-on bonus and student loan repayment options through Avera programs.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform all essential job functions as described.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality with patients and families.
• Visual acuity and hearing sufficient to perform nursing duties; accommodations may be provided.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and coordinating with the health care team.
• Develops nursing care plans and documents patient condition and care objectives.
• Teaches patients and families about conditions, medications, and self-care.
• Evaluates patient care by monitoring outcomes and adjusting plans as needed.
• Maintains safe patient care environment following infection-control policies and regulations.
• Documents patient care in charted records and maintains accurate documentation.
• Keeps patient care equipment operating and stocks supplies for readiness.
• Maintains competence in nursing capabilities as guided by leadership.
