Qualifications

Registered Nurse - Critical Care INTERNAL

Intensive Care - Loc 2

Full Time, Nights, 36 HR Nights 1845-0715

Scope of Position:

The Registered Nurse in Critical Care utilizes the nursing process and diagnoses to treat human responses to actual or potential problems. The nurse is accountable to the patient, family, and peers for the totality of work performed, ensuring the organization fulfills its mission of providing quality healthcare within the community. The patient population includes adults, geriatrics, and occasionally adolescents. Reports to the Assistant Director.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement a care plan, demonstrating leadership to meet patient and family needs. Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery or procedures to ensure safe, efficient care. Reassess and revise the plan based on changing needs and priorities.
  2. Implement Physician's orders, nursing interventions, and procedures with skill and judgment for patient care.
  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care to support information sharing and quality care.
  4. Promote effective teamwork within the department to meet goals and participate in Quality Improvement activities.
  5. Engage in professional development to stay current with advances in nursing practice.
  6. Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Connecticut
  • Experience in Medical/Surgical procedures
  • Intravenous therapy experience preferred, including starting IVs
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to work in a time-oriented environment, including exposure to bloodborne pathogens, physical demands such as lifting, pulling patients, pushing stretchers, and standing for extended periods wearing a lead apron
  • Ability to demonstrate and perform strengthening and toning exercises
  • Ability to interact with patients with tact and confidentiality
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
  • Basic computer skills and ability to access internet and hospital-specific programs
  • Perform automated functions related to job responsibilities
