Job summary

Ascension is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join the Surgery department at Columbia St Mary's Milwaukee. In this operating room role, you will scrub, circulate, assist surgeons, and help position patients for procedures in a fast-paced environment.

The position requires Wisconsin RN licensure, BLS and ACLS/ALS as required, and a diploma from an accredited nursing program. Rotating shifts and PRN coverage reflect departmental needs and patient care priorities.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Wisconsin or multi-state license
• BLS Provider certification
• ACLS/ALS as required within 6 months of hire

• Perform circulating functions including monitoring patient condition and communicating care before, during and after procedure.
• Assist operating physicians with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Additional Preferences

• Minimum of 1 year of recent Operating Room experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of perioperative nursing standards, sterile technique, aseptic practice, and patient safety.
• Strong communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
