Job Summary/Purpose
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiology Clinic is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a physician office setting. The RN supports cardiologists and other clinical providers by coordinating patient care, managing follow-up appointments, providing education, and assisting with clinical procedures. The role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Perform patient assessments including vitals, medication reconciliation, and health history specific to cardiovascular conditions.
Prepare patients for cardiac diagnostic testing (e.g., EKGs, stress tests, echocardiograms), and assist with in-office procedures as needed.
Administer medications and injections per provider orders and monitor for reactions or side effects.
Triage patient phone calls, respond to messages via the patient portal, and provide guidance based on clinical protocols.
Educate patients and families on heart health, medication regimens, lifestyle modifications, and disease management strategies.
Coordinate follow-up care, diagnostic testing, and referrals to ensure seamless care transitions.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Monitor and report changes in patients’ condition to the provider.
Support the cardiology team with administrative duties such as prior authorizations, prescription refills, and chart preparation.
