Requirements include an active RN license with 2–3 years telemetry/surgical telemetry experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS, Epic EHR proficiency, and strong IV and post-operative cardiac care skills.

Responsabilidades

• Provide skilled nursing care to cardiac PCU patients including MI, arrhythmias, vascular surgery, and post-open heart surgery.
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias for timely intervention.
• Administer medications and blood products; manage advanced cardiac treatments.
• Manage cardiac devices and specialized equipment (LVAD, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP).
• Maintain accurate Epic documentation and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse for the Stepdown Cardiac unit provides specialized nursing care to patients with cardiac conditions including myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, vascular surgery, and post-operative cardiac procedures. The role involves managing telemetry patients, administering treatments such as breathing therapies and blood products, and collaborating closely with the interdisciplinary team. The nurse must demonstrate proficiency in advanced cardiac care, telemetry interpretation, and electronic health record documentation, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced cardiac care environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to cardiac PCU patients including those with myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, vascular surgery, and post-open heart surgery.
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias for timely intervention and management.
• Administer medications, blood products, and advanced cardiac treatments such as cardioversion, defibrillation, and epicardial pacer management.
• Manage specialized cardiac equipment including chest tubes, sternal precautions, CPAP/BiPAP, tracheostomy care, and LVAD devices.
• Conduct vascular access care including groin and radial band management.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic electronic medical records system.
• Float to like units as needed, demonstrating flexibility in patient care assignments.
• Participate in ongoing patient assessments, treatment planning, and patient/family education.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license with at least 2-3 years of telemetry and surgical tele experience.
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation.
• Experience with vascular access care including groin and radial band management.
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Epic electronic health record experience (mandatory).
• Strong IV skills and experience with blood and blood product administration.
• Ability to manage cardiac devices such as LVAD and perform post-op cardiac care.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with VAD (Ventricular Assist Devices) and TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) procedures.
• Prior experience with stroke patients involving cardiac complications.
• Comfort with advanced respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy care.

Special Considerations:

• Floating to similar units is required; candidates must be flexible.
• Every other weekend work is mandatory.
• Patient-to-nurse ratio generally 1:4, can be 1:5 during midnight shifts.
• Travel contract eligibility requires a minimum 3-month separation from previous non-Swedish Providence facilities; active compact licenses honored.

Scheduling:

Shift assignments include day and night shifts with floating to like units as needed. Weekend shifts every other weekend are required.
